CCEN’s poverty-alleviation efforts are holistic in design and practice. We think in terms of economic development, the process of ongoing change that moves all people involved – “helpers” and “helped” – closer to being in right relationship with God, self, others and creation. We offer financial literacy classes, jobs classes and help in setting up individual development accounts (IDAs).

Jobs for Life is a 10-week class that is open to those in our community who are unemployed or underemployed.  During the class we learn how God has created us in His image and how He calls each of us to be productive stewards of the talents and skills that He’s given us.  We also learn practical skills of finding and keeping a job (resume building, interview skills, etc.).  Each student is paired with a Champion (or mentor) who offers friendship and support in their journey toward a career. With this training and support system, we believe we are taking part in God’s transforming work in the participants' lives and providing a reliable, trustworthy workforce to meet the pressing employment needs of companies in our area.
