Community Care & Benevolence Ministries
We, the broken being made whole, exist to participate in God's promised restoration of East Nashville physically, spiritually and socially through sacrificial commitments to education, economics, and racial justice.
If you are interested in serving in this ministry, we have a variety of opportunities, depending on your interests and gifts.
We are followers of Jesus who are compelled by the good news of the gospel to love families in our community by walking alongside them as they attempt to guide their children to trust and follow Jesus.
Our ministry is always on the lookout for new volunteers to help shepherd and love our kids. If you're interested in volunteering (background check required), please reach out!
We believe we are all made to worship and the Facility Team prepares our environment for worship at Sunday services and other church gatherings. We do this by putting up/taking down signs and communion tables, taking up offerings and assisting in other related needs during the worship service and the monthly leaders' meeting.
We need more new people to be a part of our team.
Because we are designed to worship and serve Christ in a community setting we encourage a sense of “belonging before becoming” by fostering community through making and maintaining relationships in the Church body. The Hospitality Team greets and welcomes everyone at the start of the service and assists with many other church events throughout the year. We need several new members that serve 1 time per month.
City Church believes that all of life should be worship. Part of that call is to worship together corporately in order to bring honor and glory to the only one worthy of ultimate glory and honor. The music ministry does that in one form, using musical gifts to unite the body in singing and praise.
Right now we particularly need female singers and bass players.
The Prayer Ministry team is dedicated to making intercession for City Church. We pray for requests placed in the offering basket. We also serve in the prayer room (cafeteria) during the Sunday service. If you have a heart for prayer, please join us!
Contact Leah VanHoozer with questions, prayer requests or answers to previous prayers.
Because we believe in the edification of the church by all elements of a worship gathering, we project slides and amplify sounds with clarity to enable congregational participation in worship.
We are looking for 1 more team member to run sound once every 5-6 weeks, as well as one person who can assist with scheduling (15-30 mins/week). We provide full training!
Special Events Team
Part of living and worshipping in community means coming together at times throughout the year for celebrations, seminars or workshops, or simply to worship and enjoy Christ together. The Special Events Team ministers to the church body by planning and implementing events both big and small that happen throughout the year. Some of these events include the Family Dinner, various receptions after church, decorating for the Christmas services, etc. This ministry is new and therefore still growing. We would love to add more people!
We exist to facilitate opportunities for women to grow in intimacy with Christ and in fellowship with one another for the purpose of encouragement and spiritual maturity. We do this by gathering together to learn, support and grow, most often through Bible & book studies, an annual retreat, and other communications and events. For details on current studies, etc., please see the women's ministry section of our Men's \& Women's Ministries webpage.
The committee is made up of 4-5 women who serve for a 1-yr commitment (& beyond if able). For more information about the current committee or what serving entails, please contact us!
